Monday lunch meeting

Haven't been able to make it to meetings for quite a while, so I'm proposing we meet up for lunch on Monday 14th! Topics: Space balloon, robo-sumo and graffitibots!

R2, 12.30 at the base of the stairs, hope to see you then (Can comment on this page on the site if you're coming!)

Preflight checks and briefing

Hello everyone - the launch day is approaching. Today I will go to the CERN helium store and collect our helium...

The weather has now changed, so launch is imminent! Launch will take place at or as close to 7am as possible. This means an EARLY start (which I dislike...). Calendar as follows:
29th April (This Sunday!)
1st May (it's a public holiday... so nobody will be at work?)
13th May (if anyone can get up after Caves Ouvertes the day before...)
17th May (it's another public holiday)
28th May (yet another public holiday)

It's Wednesday AGAIN :)

Hello everyone - just another reminder that today is Wednesday so we'll be meeting down at the clubhouse from 6-ish tonight.

On my agenda are final software tests for the balloon. The drop tests performed from the roof of building 156 were a complete success - so the objective for today is:
1)fix the size of the hole in the box, so that it takes pictures ok
2)copy over the latest script modified by Ioannis and get it running correctly
3)do a temperature test in my Freezer when I get home to see how long the battery lasts when chilled

Reminder: It's Wednesday... all day!

Hi everyone -

Today I'll be bringing down the balloon payload for some final pre-flight checks and code tweaks. Will be a bit late, so see you there at 6.30.

On the to-do list include:
-Modifying the logs to be more efficient (one file, human readable time stamps etc.)
-Modifying the text message so that it's a gmaps url
-Trying to get a temperature/battery state readout via SMS
-Modifications to the housing so that the camera gets a clear view

In the meantime here are two awesome lego mindstorms videos:

Meeting tonight

Hey everyone,

The meetings are now theoretically every Wednesday night, from whenever you finish work 'till you go home. We'll try and update the website to reflect this soon (yes, soon, that mythical time).

There's a meeting/talk about robot politics and equality tonight as well in case anyone's interested, but James has brought the balloon kit and will be doing the final assembly of the capsule tonight. If it goes well, the evening will finish with some drop tests from building 54 (in the absence of any higher accessible point!)

Meeting

Thanks to those that replied, let's meet on Wednesday in the Micro club classroom around 6-ish. If you're early and there's no-one there, please don't give up too soon :P See you tomorrow!

Which 3D printer shall we make?

Forums:

I've had a very kind offer from the awesome Mark Stuppes to print us the parts for the machine of our choice. So what do we want?

If nobody has any other suggestions I'll ask for the parts set for a Prussia: http://reprap.org/wiki/Prusa_Mendel_Assembly

Let's meet this week!

Hit the doodle poll to have a say on which day we should meet this week:

I propose we catch up, and play with some of the kit that's arrived (AND AT THE MEETING WE WILL PLAN NEXT WEEK'S MEETING!).

Hope to see you soon,

Think I fixed it...

...Had some issues with the newsletter module, it seems it was unstable, and when a new update came out it got disabled. At least, that's what I'll think if this works.

Today is robot day

Hi everyone - just a quick reminder that today is robotics day.

I'll be headed down to the clubhouse for about 6.20 (till 7ish.. then back to the office), I'm going to be radiation testing some arduinos :) also I have the script for the android phone if you want to tweak it. Bonus points for anyone who turns up with a polystrene container that will fit the phone and a handwarmer!
